Vacancy (USA "R") (UK "15") [04 Jun 2007|09:10pm]

Temporary Arrangement.

HANNURDOCK'S REVIEW:

A married couple break down near a rather nasty little motel, and find that the man running the show is actually producing snuff movies from his paying guests.

Tense, fast-paced thriller starring Kate Beckinsale. Comical and scary.

MPAA:
Rated R for brutal violence and terror, brief nudity and language.

RUNTIME:
USA:80 min / Canada:85 min (Ontario)

Go Home.

HANNURDOCK'S REVIEW:

A rampaging bus driver crashes his vehicle, leaving his passengers stranded in a Brazilian jungle. Although the location is remote, some tourists find a hidden beach and a bar. After successfully downing half the joint, the tourists awaken the next morning and find they've been robbed. But that's not even the worst news - someone is watching and waiting for them, a ruthless and terrifying individual.

Not a bad film although I felt a little dissatisfied with the film, and thought they could have done more with it.

MPAA:
Rated R for strong graphic violence and disturbing content, sexuality, nudity, drug use and language.

RUNTIME:
93 min / 96 min (unrated version)

Speed Needs No Translation.

HANNURDOCK'S REVIEW:

I love the 'Fast and the Furious' films. Imagine mixing them with Burnout and you get the film of my dreams - yes, I loved every second. I even laughed out loud a few times. I was thoroughly delighted with this action-packed racing flick. Highly charged, intense and featuring a nice twist for fans of the other two films at the end ... definitely worth seeing! I am still pumped from watching it! Think I'll be turning on the PS2 and burning (or should I say 'drifting') round a few laps before bed.

MPAA:
Rated PG-13 for reckless and illegal behavior involving teens, violence, language and sexual content.

104 min

Innocence gone mad.

HANNURDOCK'S REVIEW:

Hard-hitting thriller. A young girl meets a charming man on the internet. She's underage, seemingly vulnerable to his flattery and in for a world of trouble. However, things take an interesting twist as the paedophile finds she's not what she seems. This film is mainly talking, and there is hardly any action. However, the plot has great twists and turns and is definitely worth taking a look.

MPAA:
Rated R for disturbing violent and aberrant sexual content involving a teen, and for language.

RUNTIME:
103 min

Mayday...

HANNURDOCK'S REVIEW:

Excellent disaster movie with probably so much money "sunk" into it, they could probably feed a whole third world country. Although it sounds annoying to remake yet ANOTHER classic, this one aint half bad. I went with absolutely no expectations and was delighted. I think if estimations are too high, I'll inevitably be disappointed. So I didn't think I'd like it, and I ended up loving it. The special effects are amazing. It was worth the price of the ticket to see the ship get caught by the massive wave. Remarkable effects. If you love disaster films like I do, then this will pleasantly surprise.

MPAA:
Rated PG-13 for intense prolonged sequences of disaster and peril.

99 min

Love Is A Force Of Nature

HANNURDOCK'S REVIEW:

Upon second viewing, I had absolutely no expectations with this movie. I remember seeing it at the cinema, amongst all the hype and hoopla, and being terribly disappointed. I saw it in the cheap section of Blockbusters and decided to give it another chance. And on second viewing, I loved it. It made me laugh, it made me cry. It was intensely beautiful. I can't get over how something can appear so lame at the cinema, and then completely surprise you on DVD. Maybe I didn't give it a fair chance the first time around. I'm glad I discovered it the second time round - else I would have completely missed out on a lovely film.

MPAA:
Rated R for sexuality, nudity, language and some violence.

Seek The Truth

HANNURDOCK'S REVIEW:

Hyped up thriller which was good, but nothing that special. Guess the hype always leads to an inevitable disappointment. Tom Hanks plays a man on a mission - to uncover what really happened in the bible. As far as biblical statements goes - this pounds on every religion's dark fearful hidey-hole. I think there will be some backlash regarding the content as it may offend some people.

MPAA:
Rated PG-13 for disturbing images, violence, some nudity, thematic material, brief drug references and sexual content.

RUNTIME:
149 min

What's worse than a leather-faced madman chasing you through the bush with a chainsaw? How about three!!

HANNURDOCK'S REVIEW:

If you go out to the woods today you're in for a big surprise.
And it isn't a nice surprise either.

Something in the West Virginia woods is killing off hikers and tourists. A young man, late for a job interview accidentially ends up with five other stranded people in the very woods where the disappearances have occured.

Gruesome, violent and quirky ... this is an excellent horror film. Not for the faint hearted. Khayman-Style killings, be warned!

MPAA:
Rated R for strong violence and gore, some language and drug use.
